YOU CAN DO THIS!

Hi ONEchapel Family,

Just a reminder that we are having our summer training for new Connect Group Leaders tomorrow morning (Saturday) from 9am-1:30pm at our Monterrey Oaks Campus.

I would love to see more of you engaging in community and serving others by leading a Connect Group. We’ll give you some training, coaching and resources so that you can do it. You don’t have to be a teacher and you don’t have to have a Bible degree. You just need to be willing to love people and encourage them as you walk this journey of faith together.

If you’re not sure, come check it out anyway and see if it’s something God might be leading you to do. Plus, we’ll have free food!

GOOD AFTERNOON ONECHAPEL!

What a great weekend we had together as we kicked off our new series, NOW PLAYING, with a great discussion about the movie, “The Blind Side” and how it communicates the story of the gospel. Be sure to join us next week for another blockbuster movie message! This is the perfect series to bring a friend to, and this next week we’ll be celebrating our ONE-year birthday as a church. Don’t miss it!

AUSTIN FIRE RELIEF

As you know, there were more than 700 homes destroyed in our region and the Bastrop fire continues to burn. We are partnering with the Austin Disaster Relief Network to help people in need. ONEchapel will be giving financially to help this relief effort. You can give specifically to this great need by going to www.onechapel.com, clicking on “Giving” and choosing Austin Fire Relief in the drop down menu. We’re also volunteering to partner with a church in Bastrop that needs assistance. I’ll keep you updated once we hear more specifically how we can help as a church. We are also collecting needed items at The Family Room this week from this list. We will be transporting those items at the end of the week to Celebration Church who will be distributing to families in need.

CONNECT GROUPS LAUNCH

This week we are launching 40 new Connect Groups! There is something for everybody and our groups are spreading throughout the city. As we grow there will be more places to connect. Check out the menu of groups at www.onechapel.com and click on “Connect Groups.”

TUESDAY NIGHT PRAYER

As a result of our emphasis on Connect Groups, we will no longer hold a church-wide prayer meeting on Tuesday nights. However, prayer will continue to be church-wide. We have several new prayer groups starting across the city and every Connect Group has prayer as part of its central purpose.

BUILDING UPDATE

We’re still in the research and negotiating process, but I anticipate that we will have some news by the end of the week. As soon as we know where we’re moving, we’ll make sure that you know!

MEN’S MEXICO MISSION

We’re taking a mission trip to Mexico to build a church and to help with an outreach campaign. This is going to be such a great trip! Here’s the preliminary details:

- Dates: Monday, October 31st – Sunday, November 6th

- Current Passports Needed: Can take anywhere from 3 to 8 weeks to get this done.

- Cost: $700 – $800 each person (includes airfare)

- Travel: Drive to Houston together (van or bus).

-  Fly to Puebla, Mexico. Drive from Puebla to the villages (Cuetzalan, Mexico).

21 DAYS OF PRAYER

August 14th – September 3rd | Church wide

As we launch into the fall season, let’s spend some extra time praying together for our friends and neighbors who need Jesus. During the next three weeks, we’ll hold special times of corporate worship and prayer at the Family Room on Tuesday and Saturday evenings from 7pm to 8:15pm. SUMMER OF SERVING

Hi Summer-lovin’ friends!

As you’re enjoying your family and friends this summer, don’t forget about the most important thing you can do as a believer in Jesus. Serve other people.

It’s not hard. Just invite your neighbors over for a barbecue. Float the river with some new friends. Watch another couples’ kids so that they can go out on a date. Help a single mom with her car. Have a long conversation with an elderly person. Encourage a teenager with some heartfelt words. No matter what you’re doing, there is a chance to serve. Keep your eyes open for opportunities and God will use you!

GIRLS NIGHT OUT!

Don’t miss this event for all the women of ONEchapel this Friday, June 24, 2011 at 7pm in The Family Room. Bring a friend and share an evening of fellowship and an incredible illustrated message about the Potter and the Clay—a fundamental picture that transcends time and age. It speaks to the struggler, the faithful, the old, the young, the excited, the discouraged and the seeker. Through music and the visual of an actual potter and her wheel, the Word of God will come alive to mold and shape your life into the image of Christ. It’s gonna’ be great!

ONEchapel COLLEGE

Most of you know that we had a small internship this past year to encourage young people in local church ministry as we planted ONEchapel. We are now expanding this internship into a full-fledged ministry school designed to be a training ground and launching pad for college age leaders to successfully serve local churches. ONEchapel College will be a place to find DIRECTION, develop DETERMINATION and encourage DEVOTION to Jesus. These ideas are more caught than taught and there’s no better place than a life-giving local church to transform young people! We need one another as we confront and walk through the challenges of life and the attacks on our marriages and children. Having a safe place to be vulnerable and to share our struggles is important to walking in freedom and victory. Come and connect with other women and experience the healing power of Jesus in your life, marriage and family as we worship and pray in the midst of His presence.
