CHECK OUT THE LATEST…

Here’s the latest going on at ONEchapel…

IT’S LADIES NIGHT!

Oh, what a night! Join the women of ONEchapel this Friday, October 14th at 7pm in The Family Room (3800 Ben Garza Ln Austin, TX 78749) for a fantastic night of fellowship and connection. We’ll set up an“ice-cream bar” and all you need to do is bring your favorite topping! Invite a friend for an evening of worship and a message from my incredible wife, Aimee, encouraging every woman to become all that God wants her to be. This is a great opportunity to meet some new friends, eat some ice-cream (guilt free), and experience an amazing life changing event.

MOVING FORWARD

We continue to move forward to our new location near Monterey Oaks Blvd on the north frontage road of Hwy 290. The building is called Monterey Oaks. It is a commercial property with a ton of parking and a beautiful lobby where you can stand around and talk as much as you want! The permits are in process and the improvements continue to pick up momentum. I’m excited about this next step in our journey together and I know there are really good things coming. Keep praying and expecting!

CHURCH SERVICES

This Sunday, AMC is moving us to three new theaters. We will have our adult services in theater 3 and our children’s services in theaters 4 and 5. This will mean we’re all together in the same hallway and children’s check-in will be in a new spot right across from Guest Central in the main lobby. We’re also shortening our 11:30am service to accommodate the theater’s request to exit the theater by 12:30pm. We’ll squeeze together for a few weeks until we get into our new space, so be friendly, patient and enjoy the adventure!

CHURCH CHAIRS

We’ve enjoyed some really nice seats in the movie theater, and now we get to purchase some new chairs for our new location. We’ve chosen a very nice chair at a great price for right around $50 a piece and I would like to encourage every one of us to buy his or her own chair. For example, a family of four would buy four chairs for a total of $200. If you have a friend or an extended family member that you’ve been praying for to come to church, consider buying an extra chair for them. Just write “church chair” on your check or go to www.onechapel.com, click  “Online Giving” and choose “church chair” on the drop down menu. Remember, you can always give regularly, easily and safely online at onechapel.com.

What an adventure this is! I love taking this journey with you. See you Sunday.

EXCITED ABOUT OUR NEW HOME…COMING SOON.

In case you haven’t seen it. Here’s a sneak peek of our new home.

WELL, WE’RE MOVING ON UP!

Hi ONEchapel Family and Friends!

It’s an incredible season for ONEchapel and there is much to look forward to. Here’s a sampling of what you can get involved in. For all the info on ONEchapel, go to the website www.onechapel.com and check out what’s happening around the church. Be sure to click on this blog often for the very latest!

THE MOVE

As you know, we’re getting ready to move to our new location near Monterey Oaks Blvd. on the north frontage road of Hwy. 290. The building is called Monterey Oaks and is a commercial property with a ton of parking and a great lobby. This is an exciting step that we’re giving us more flexibility with our space, our time, and our ministry opportunities. Well, we’ve hit a few bumps in the road with permitting delays and so we don’t know when we’ll actually be moving. We’re most likely looking at a mid-November time frame, but as soon as I know, you will know! Stay tuned…this is going to be a fun ride.

CHAIRS

We’re ready to order chairs for our new space and that means we need your help. We’ve chosen a very nice chair for right around $50 a piece and I would like to encourage everyone to buy his or her own chair. For example, a family of four would buy four chairs for $200. If you have a friend or an extended family member that you’ve been praying for to come to church, consider buying an extra chair for them. Some of you can purchase additional chairs and some of you can’t, but if all of us will just tithe regularly and give what we can, we can cover all the expenses of moving into this new space. Just write “church chair” on your check or go to www.onechapel.com, click  “Online Giving” and choose “church chair” on the drop down menu. Remember, you can always give regularly, easily and safely online at onechapel.com.

WOMEN’S MEETING

Join the women of ONEchapel next Friday, October 14th at 7pm in The Family Room (3800 Ben Garza Ln. Austin, TX 78749) for a fantastic night of fellowship and connecting. An “ice-cream bar” will be all set up and you just need to bring your favorite topping! Don’t worry; I’m sure it’s totally fat-free. Bring a friend for an evening of worship with a message from my beautiful wife, Aimee, encouraging every woman to become all that God wants her to be. This is a perfect time to meet some ladies, share some sweets and experience an amazing life changing event. Don’t miss it!

REACHING OUT

The families affected by the Bastrop fires continue to need our practical help in the weeks and months ahead. As they put their lives and homes back together, they will need encouragement, prayers and gifts of service. From cleaning up debris in the neighborhoods to sponsoring a family, the opportunities are immense. Why not sign up as a Connect Group and sponsor a family in need? Or, how about taking your family to volunteer in the warehouse to organize cloths and resources? Get the latest at www.onechapel.com and click on “Austin Fires” for all the info you need to be the hands and feet of Jesus to people in great need.

Final thought: Life is too short to dwell on our shortcomings. Instead, dwell on the length of God’s gracious love, the depth of His grace and the great strength that is ours in weakness.  2 Corinthians 12:9-10

I love this!

ONECHAPEL IS EXPANDING!

Hey ONEchapel Family and Friends!

I’ve really been enjoying NOW PLAYING the past few weeks as we have looked at great movies, finding spiritual truths and learning biblical concepts. Pastor Brent did a fantastic job last week as we watched “Walk the Line” and enjoyed the redemption story of Johnny Cash. Remember, you are not nothin’—you are somethin’ in Christ!

NEW LOCATION!

I made the announcement last Sunday that we are officially moving to a new location! ONEchapel will be meeting for Sunday services at our brand new location starting sometime in late October or early November. After an amazing year of meeting in the movie theater, we are outgrowing it and now expanding to a venue that we will have access to all through the week!

The name of the building complex is Monterey Oaks. It is a commercial building that hosts several businesses located on the frontage road on the north side of 290 just west of Monterey Oaks Blvd. It’s going to take a few weeks for all of the tenant improvements to be made and we are looking forward to our first services there which will still be at 9:30 and 11:30am.

This is going to be an exciting season as we try to accommodate the growth that God is giving us. People are making commitments to Christ every Sunday and joining our family of believers, so lets be good stewards and take care of every person who comes to ONEchapel. We’ve got to continue to be a REAL church where everyone is accepted and where all are discipled and encouraged to be all that God wants them to be.

Here are a few facts and figures about the space:

  • 8,881 square feet, plus more than 3,500 square feet of lobby area available to us every Sunday.
  • More than 450 seats and three large classrooms.
  • First right of refusal for additional space as it becomes available.
  • A kitchen area and storage space.
  • A huge parking area available for occasional outdoor events.
  • Address: 5508 Highway 290 West Austin, TX 78735
  • Five minutes south of our current location at Barton Creek Mall.

Of course, we will have some extra expenses as a result of our move, like chairs and some audio/visual elements. So, please continue to give generously and help make this transition as smooth as possible. I am committed to faithfulness and good stewardship in all that we do, so that ONEchapel will always be a place people can trust.

AUSTIN DISASTER RELIEF NETWORK

As you know, ONEchapel is partnering with Austin Disaster Relief Network (ADRN) to provide volunteers for the wildfire relief effort. This disaster has once again shown us that the Body of Christ can be a powerful influence to serve people in need if we are prepared and ready. Jesus wants to use us, and he will, if we’re prepared.

Every new volunteer that wants to join the ADRN network is required to take a 3hr class to give you an introduction to ADRN. This training is completely free. The next general volunteer training for ADRN is coming up tomorrow, Tuesday, Sept. 20th. 6:30-9:30pm at Grace Covenant Church Offices, located at 9508 Jollyville Road, Ste. 201 (Grace 360.org building). Let’s get prepared!

Here is the sign up page to become a certified general volunteer for ADRN: Sign Up

Get our most recent ONEchapel outreach updates by going to www.onechapel.com and click on “fire relief.” Every few days we will have new info and places for you to get involved.

I love what God is doing with us!

Let’s keep moving forward!

THE LATEST…

GOOD AFTERNOON ONECHAPEL!

What a great weekend we had together as we kicked off our new series, NOW PLAYING, with a great discussion about the movie, “The Blind Side” and how it communicates the story of the gospel. Be sure to join us next week for another blockbuster movie message! This is the perfect series to bring a friend to, and this next week we’ll be celebrating our ONE-year birthday as a church. Don’t miss it!

AUSTIN FIRE RELIEF

As you know, there were more than 700 homes destroyed in our region and the Bastrop fire continues to burn. We are partnering with the Austin Disaster Relief Network to help people in need. ONEchapel will be giving financially to help this relief effort. You can give specifically to this great need by going to www.onechapel.com, clicking on “Giving” and choosing Austin Fire Relief in the drop down menu. We’re also volunteering to partner with a church in Bastrop that needs assistance. I’ll keep you updated once we hear more specifically how we can help as a church. Here is a link with information of how you can help individually: http://bit.ly/oQX7Xn

We are also collecting needed items at The Family Room this week from this list. We will be transporting those items at the end of the week to Celebration Church who will be distributing to families in need.

CONNECT GROUPS LAUNCH

This week we are launching 40 new Connect Groups! There is something for everybody and our groups are spreading throughout the city. As we grow there will be more places to connect. Check out the menu of groups at www.onechapel.com and click on “Connect Groups.”

TUESDAY NIGHT PRAYER

As a result of our emphasis on Connect Groups, we will no longer hold a church-wide prayer meeting on Tuesday nights. However, prayer will continue to be church-wide. We have several new prayer groups starting across the city and every Connect Group has prayer as part of its central purpose.

BUILDING UPDATE

We’re still in the research and negotiating process, but I anticipate that we will have some news by the end of the week. As soon as we know where we’re moving, we’ll make sure that you know!

MEN’S MEXICO MISSION

We’re taking a mission trip to Mexico to build a church and to help with an outreach campaign. This is going to be such a great trip! Here’s the preliminary details:

- Dates: Monday, October 31st – Sunday, November 6th

- Current Passports Needed: Can take anywhere from 3 to 8 weeks to get this done.

- Cost: $700 – $800 each person (includes airfare)

- Travel: Drive to Houston together (van or bus).

-  Fly to Puebla, Mexico. Drive from Puebla to the villages (Cuetzalan, Mexico).

Be sure to email marty.urwin@onechapel.com right away if you’re interested.
