MERRY CHRISTMAS! GREAT THINGS HAPPENING AND GREATER THINGS COMING.

Christmas is truly the most wonderful time of the year! We love celebrating Jesus birth with family and friends! Last Wednesday we did just that with the ONEchapel family at the “Unfortunate Christmas Sweater” Party. We ate way too much delicious food, competed in crazy Christmas games, connected with friends both new and old, and discovered some of the most “unfortunate” sweaters we have ever seen. It was perfect.

Thank you to all the incredible team members that made it all happen. This ONEchapel family is simply amazing.

Tomorrow, (Sunday, December 19th) we’re continuing our “NOEL” series. It’s also the last day to bring in your gifts for the S. Austin Pregnancy Resource Center. Come join the family for the last Sunday before Christmas Day. We can’t wait!

Things are getting more and more exciting around here…2 services are right around the corner...

IT’S THE MOST WONDERFUL TIME OF THE YEAR!

We had another great day this past Sunday with part 2 of our Christmas series “NOEL” as we discussed how Jesus is not afraid to enter into our lives and help us in the midst of our “mess.” The Presence of Jesus was strong in worship and communion. We loved being together with the ONEchapel family. Aside from a brief discussion on “ONEsies”, it was a fantastic day. (smile)

We’re looking forward to getting together this Wednesday night for the ONEchapel Christmas Party at the church office. It’s an open house event so you can drop by whenever you like. Some of you may have inadvertently received an email or two about a Christmas Potluck from one of our Connect Groups taking place on Tuesday night. Just to clarify, the ONEchapel Christmas Party is this Wednesday, December 15th from 6 to 9pm at the church office. We’ll provide some egg nog and cider. We’re asking you to bring your favorite Yuletide Treat to share. It’s just one more opportunity to connect with the ONEchapel family and celebrate the holidays.

And don’t forget to wear your favorite “Ugly Christmas Sweater”. Apparently, prizes will be awarded. Its’ going to be fun.

Merry Christmas ONEchapel!

Christmastime is my favorite season of the year. I love the lights, the evergreen trees and the sense of kindness that comes upon our society during the Holidays. Don’t let any Scrooge-like attitudes get the best of you. Instead, enjoy the gift of Jesus and share Him freely during this most wonderful time of the year! There’s so much happening…here’s a sample:

WEDNESDAY NIGHT PRAYER
We’re praying for our families, church and city every Wednesday night at the ONEchapel Offices. If you need an encouragement in the middle of the week, come on over. We’ll pray from 7-8pm. 3800 Ben Garza Ln. Austin, TX 78749.

HIGH SCHOOL HOUSE PARTY!
High School students are meeting at Darren and Lori Green’s (284 Limestone Trail, Austin, TX 78737) at 7pm tonight (12/1) with Pastor Brent for fabulous fun, worship and encouragement. If your teenager needs some good friends, this is the place! The Jr. High House Party will be Sunday (12/4) at 5pm at the same location!

CONNECT GROUP LEADER TRAINING
If you’re even thinking about possibly leading a connect group someday…join me this Saturday (12/4) at the ONEchapel Offices for a morning of fellowship, vision and training. We’ll have a little refreshment around 8:30am and begin promptly at 9am, ending around 1:30pm. This training is required for Connect Group Leadership in January when we will start several more groups. Don’t miss it!

JOY TO THE WORLD SUNDAY!
This is the first Sunday in our new message series called NOEL! We will unwrap the Christmas story in a way you may never have heard before and speak of the joy of Advent! Don’t let the Holidays get you down, enjoy the wonder of peace on earth and the message of God’s joy sent to the whole world this Sunday morning at ONEchapel at 10am!

ONECHAPEL CHRISTMAS PARTY
And speaking of Christmas…let’s get together and celebrate the season on Wednesday, December 15th for an open house Christmas party at the ONEchapel Offices. We’ll have eggnog, hot cider and a bunch of other yuletide treats. PLUS, we’re holding our very own UGLY CHRISTMAS SWEATER CONTEST, so rummage around and find the ugliest sweater in your closet and try to win a big prize! We’ll start at 6pm, judge the sweaters at 7:30pm and end at 9pm. It’s going to be HO-HO-Horrendous!

CHRISTMAS IS CANCELLED!?!?
We’ve decided to postpone our Christmas Eve Service until next year. With set up and tear down at the theater, and the strain on volunteers and their families, we just felt like this is not the time to press. So, we’ll focus on some serving and other outreach opportunities instead. If you want to participate, find a Connect Group and join them in serving people in need this Holiday season.

I’m so glad that you asked. The best place to find Connect Groups is www.ONEchapel.com, and then click on Connect Groups for the list. If you want even more info on the groups, go to www.myONEchapel.com where you can create your very own profile, join the group of your choice and update all of your personal information at the same time. It really is a great tool and completely secure. Try it at www.myONEchapel.com.

MOVING TO TWO SERVICES!
As you’ve probably noticed, Sundays are getting more crowded, and as a result, we need to make room for those who Jesus is adding to ONEchapel. Every week someone makes a commitment to follow Jesus and we need to make sure that continues. Even though it may be a bit inconvenient, it is worth our time and energy to have two services. Plus, there is really no extra set up or tear down, and since we’re getting to the place where we can rotate our teams, allowing everyone to serve a service and then attend a service, this is the right time for expansion. January 9th will be our first Sunday for not ONE, but TWOchapels! Let’s GO!

I’m so excited about what is happening right now at ONEchapel as people are growing, connecting and serving one another, and I believe there is much more to come! Let’s keep moving forward in building a community of love that’s aggressively living and sharing the GOOD NEWS of Jesus in Austin.

STUDENT HOUSE PARTIES ARE BACK AND PODCASTS ARE UP…

Our first House Parties for ONEchapel students were fantastic. We had a great time connecting and the Presence of God was amazing (as always). So, we’re at it again this week. High School House Party is this Wednesday, December 1st at 284 Limestone Trail Austin, TX 78737 from 7 to 9pm. And the Junior High House Party is next Sunday, December 5th at the same location from 5 to 7pm. If you were at the first one, you know why you should come again. If you missed the first one, come on out to this one. Can’t wait to meet you.

THE HOUSE IS OPEN…

Last night the ONEchapel family celebrated the opening of the new church offices with an Open House from 5 to 9.

The space looked amazing, the food was great, the connections were strong, and the Presence of God was tangible as we prayed for our city and all the incredible things Jesus is doing. His church is moving forward in Austin and we are grateful to be a part.

Big thanks to the Fosters…Larry, Suzanne, and Mike…and everyone else who volunteered their time and talents to help create this new space for the ONEchapel family. We’re looking forward to all the gatherings,  prayer meetings, worship practices, youth meetings, and everything else that will take place here.

Great things are happening. Great days are ahead.
