SOME ONECHAPEL NEWS 10.15.10

Hello ONEchapel family,

We are having such a great time working together, getting to know one other and learning more about following Jesus. As we continue to move forward, here are a few items I want you know about.

I LIKE CHURCH SERIES
As many of you know, we are in the middle of a series of messages called “I Like Church.” We’re exploring what church is, what it is not, and how ONEchapel will grow into it’s unique expression of the church here in Austin. So many people tend to criticize the church, but we want to talk about what’s great about church! Last Sunday, I talked about how our Connect Groups will function to build relationships (I also put up a blog post describing our 3G strategy. Read it at blog.onechapel.com if you’re curious). This Sunday, we’ll talk about our church Mission in “No Plan B Part 2.” Over the next few weeks will be messages about our role in the City Church, encouraging a multi-generational culture, building a safe place for people, and how what we believe and why we believe it is so important.

NEW DIGS FOR ONEchapel OFFICES
Larry and Suzanne Foster have offered some much needed office space where we can have small meetings during the week to be able to connect and go to the next level of growth. They are moving their offices out, and we’re going to help them clean up and empty out some of the files, desks, furniture, etc… and make room for us to move in. Yes, we need an old fashioned church clean up crew to get this place ready! The first work-day will be Saturday, October 23rd from 8am to 4pm. It’s a residence located near Brodie Lane and William Cannon just behind the Lowe’s store. We’ll have breakfast tacos ready at 8am so come hungry and ready to work. Here’s the address: 3800 Ben Garza Lane, Austin, TX 78749.

CAN YOU HEAR ME NOW?!
Some of you have noticed the inconsistency of our audio during worship in the theater. We’re working to dial it in each week and we will get better and better at getting a great, full sound that envelopes us as we worship together. For some it may be loud and for others too soft, but we’ve provided opportunities for both groups to enhance their experience. Earplugs are available for one group and speaker stacks at face level in front of several seats for the other! Thanks so much for your patience as we try to “get it right” each Sunday.

WEDNESDAY NIGHT PRAYER
Each Wednesday we gather together for prayer with all who want to spend some time lifting Jesus up over our lives, our church, our city and the nations. We meet at JuLee D’s for one hour at 7pm. If you’ve never been, just email info@onechapel.com to get the address. It really is a great time of sharing the joy of prayer and intercession with others who are digging into God’s heartbeat!

ONEchapel LADIES NIGHT! OH WHAT A NIGHT!
My wife, Aimee, is hosting a ONEchapel Ladies Night. Bring your favorite dish (main dish, side dish, salad or dessert…and bring the recipe to share), and come ready for some great conversation, fun and vision for women’s ministries at ONEchapel. You’ll hear from Aimee and get to know a bunch of other ladies who are interested in connecting and finding God’s best for their lives. Please RSVP with your dish to aimee.parsley@onechapel.com.

Here’s the 411:
Friday, October 22nd, 6-9pm
Aimee Parsley’s House
