Sign Up for ADRN Training

As I’ve mentioned before, ONEchapel is partnering with Austin Disaster Relief Network (ADRN) to provide volunteers for the wildfire relief effort. Every new volunteer that wants to join the ADRN network is required to take a 3hr class to give you an introduction to ADRN. This training is free.

It’s important to note that ADRN will be posting several new volunteer opportunities through December 2011 to help rebuild homes in Oak Hill, Bastrop, Pflugerville, Leander and Steiner Ranch.  Over the next 3-4 months, they will need hundreds of general volunteers and church groups to help.

In fact, ADRN is currently looking for full-time or part-time volunteer managers for both warehouse locations (Oak Meadow and 360). Preferably someone with warehouse or management experience. Please call 512-331-2200

If we will be prepared and ready, there is so much Jesus will do through us to help people in need.

The next general volunteer training for ADRN is coming up tomorrow, Tuesday, Sept. 20th. 6:30-9:30pm.

Volunteer Opportunities

Many of you have been asking how you can help the victims of the wildfires.  While the greatest need for volunteers will be in the near future, there are still things that we can do right now to help.

Here are some opportunities available in our area that will allow us to show the love of Christ to those who are in need.

Urgent: In-Kind Donations Needed for families sifting through their belongings in Bastrop:  Heavy Duty Work Gloves, Rubber Work Boots sizes 8-10 (available at Academy for $10), and Face Masks.  These items need to be dropped off at Oak Meadows Baptist Church/ ADRN Warehouse located at 6905 S. IH-35, Austin, TX 78744.  They will then be delivered to the neighborhood checkpoints for distribution to family members to use as they go back to their homesites.

Warehouse: ADRN’s network of churches/partners have established over 100,000 sq feet of warehouse space (Celebration Church, Taco Bell, Oak Meadows Church) to help lift the heavy burden of receiving an abundance of in-kind donations from around the nation.  Volunteers are especially needed for the Oak Meadow Baptist Church Warehouse for the next few days.  The warehouse is located at 6905 S. IH-35, Austin, TX 78744. To help with the warehouse needs.  Please click here to volunteer.

Call Center:  ADRN volunteers try to pray for every family that calls in and they help solve other operational challenges that arise throughout the day. If you would like to help us by taking a shift, please click here to help with this volunteer opportunity.  Our Call Center is located within Hill Country Bible Church, NW located at 12124 RR 620, N (Northwest Lobby Bldg, Rm#1.112). The Call Center will be open for at least another two weeks.

Food Bank Mobile Food Pantry Feeding Bastrop County Fire Victims: Capital Area Food Bank’s (CAFB) Mobile Food Pantry Is Distributing Food For 600 Families At Bastrop County’s Emergency Food Pantry. To help those affected by the wildfires in Central Texas, the Capital Area Food Bank of Texas (CAFB) is requesting assistance: http://www.austinfoodbank.org/how-to-help/

While ADRN is doing a great job of mobilizing churches in the area, ONEchapel will also be partnering with local Bastrop churches to aid in the disaster recovery effort. If you are interested in joining the Disaster Recovery Team please complete the Volunteer Form and we will contact you to let you know when and where your help is most needed.

WILDFIRE RELIEF

ONEchapel Friends and Family,

Firefighters are beginning to get a handle on the wildfires in our area, but there is still much work to be done. Now is the time when we can jump in as a church and serve people really well. There are so many in need with over 1600 homes destroyed and families struggling to get their lives back.

We are partnering with the Austin Disaster Relief Network to provide volunteers for shelters around the city. The current need is to staff the south Austin shelter at OAK MEADOWS BAPTIST CHURCH. There are very few people who have signed up for Saturday and they need our help. This is something we can do to care for those who are in great need.

Click on the link below to volunteer and take a shift this Saturday, September 10th.

Look over this donation list below. If you have items you would like to donate, we are accepting donations until noon on Friday at The Family Room, but you can donate any of these items at the OAK MEADOWS location between 9am and 6pm on Saturday (M-F 9am-6pm).

IN KIND DONATIONS NEEDED: Diapers, Baby Food, Adult Food (non-perishable), Trash Cans, Heavy Duty Trash Bags, Dog Kennels, Clorox Wipes, Gifts for kids, Work Gloves, Gatorade and Water.

Also, we need more people trained from ONEchapel to engage when these disasters strike. If we can be prepared and ready, there is so much Jesus wants to do with us to help people in their moment of crisis. The next general volunteer training for ADRN is coming up on Tuesday, Sept. 20th. 6:30-9:30pm. This training is free.

Here is the sign up page to become a general volunteer for ADRN:

Loving our neighbors is what we are called to do and this is one of the best opportunities we have to be Jesus’ hands and feet to our community

If you want to donate financially, go to www.onechapel.com, click ONLINE GIVING and then select the Austin Fire Relief button from the drop down menu. 100% of what you give to that effort will go to helping others find relief.

Let’s do this!
