MENTORING
The biggest need Sunset Valley Elementary has expressed is for us to help with weekly mentoring for children during lunch. They have targeted several children who are going through hard transitions (deaths in the family, moves, etc.) who need a mentor. The best thing for them is to have consistency and someone to talk to and you can be that for them! You will be assigned a specific student to build a relationship with through the end of the year.

There are 3 steps to the process:

1- Complete a background check with AISD
2- Complete a 1 1/2 hour training
3- Set up a weekly mentoring opportunity with Emily Bush at Sunset Valley Elementary

To sign up for the background check and training go to:

1.       Go to www.austinpartners.org/volunteer
2.       Choose APIE Mentoring
3.       Choose a school
4.       Type in email address twice to sign up.

If you have already completed the background check, it will not require you to do that again. Your e-mail will serve as identification and show that you have completed that. At any point that you are asked to specify a school, of course, go ahead and pick Sunset Valley Elementary.

Once the training is complete, Emily Bush from Sunset Valley Elementary will get in touch with you to set you up with your own student.

CHILDCARE FOR SPANISH CLASSES
Sunset Valley Elementary will be hosting Spanish classes for their Dual Language parents. They would like us to provide childcare for the parents who will be attending the classes. They will need at least 2 volunteers each Tuesday from 1-2pm. The classes are from 1:15-1:55pm on the following dates:

February 26^th  
March 5^th & 19^th  
April 2^nd, 9^th, 16^th, 23^rd & 30^th
May 7^th & 14^th

CHEETAH OLYMPIC GAMES
Thursday, May 2^nd, Field Day for 3^rd-5^th Grades

Friday May 3^rd, Field Day for Kinder-2^nd Grades

We will be helping Coach Powell run this event. Set up will begin around 7am. The day will end after lunch. We helped with this last year and had a BLAST! Come join us for some Cheetah fun!
