Who We Are

PRESENCE-BASED: This means that we believe that God is "present" within us and in a special way when we come together for worship and sharing the Scriptures. As Christ followers, we are the carriers of God's presence, which is the transformative power that makes us God's representatives here on earth.

We believe that Scriptures (the Holy Bible) are God's words written down for our instruction, encouragement and correction. God is our Father and desires to speak to us as his children, and consequently, his presence in our personal lives as well as our gatherings is strengthened by listening, memorizing and meditating on his words. Likewise, we believe that ascribing worth (worship) to God is both the pleasure and purpose of all who have been redeemed by the sacrifice of God's only son, Jesus. As we glorify God by our actions and with our affections His presence is strengthened in our lives and in our meetings together.

RELATIONALLY-DRIVEN: This means that we hold relationships as one of our highest values for everything we do, both inside and outside the church. As Christ followers, we are interconnected, allowing others to have access to our lives so that we can grow in maturity and Christ-likeness.

The Church is not an organization but a living organism. It lives and breathes through the strength of its relationships. These relationships are the conduit of all ministry and create both the means and the method for discipleship. The Church is by definition the gathering of believers (ecclesia) and their fellowship with one another (koinonia) creates the atmosphere and approach for growing in Christ-likeness. By gathering together we connect with God's purposes in each one of us and by sharing access to our hearts with others we open up to God's power to transform our lives.

MISSION FOCUSED: This means that we believe our purpose is greater than our own gatherings. We want to be strategic in the way that we reach out to serve our community, our city and other nations around the world. As Christ followers, we are committed to be locally engaged and globally connected to what God is doing in the earth.

As Christ's representatives here on earth, we are responsible to be the hands, feet and voice of Jesus to others in our world. We become more like Christ when we visit the prisoner, welcome the stranger, feed the hungry and care for the poor in our community (local). We are instructed by Christ to go into the world and take the message of the gospel to other nations and people groups who have not heard about the miracle of Christ's death, burial and resurrection. We are to carry this good news in a tangible, practical and measureable way into our own community, reaching out to other cities and nations through strategic, mission initiatives (global).

ONECHAPEL EXISTS TO:

1. Love God by Loving People
We love God best by loving people well. All people are valuable to us and worthy of being loved, and the best way to reveal God to those who don't know him is by loving them practically and tangibly with our actions.

2. Equip Believers and Leaders
We want to equip followers of Christ with the truth of Scripture and the power of the Holy Spirit so that they become leaders who will influence others to become Christ-followers.

3. Develop Authentic Community
We give of our time, talent and treasure to build authentic community together in our church as well as our neighborhood and city. We want authentic, life-giving relationships to be the mark of our fellowship and the method for our outreach.
ONECHAPEL WILL STRIVE TO:

1. Worship
We gather weekly in large groups to celebrate what Christ has done for us and share the Scriptures together.

2. Connect
We interact with each other in small groups in order to build authentic community and grow in Christ.

3. Serve
We help each other, our community and those in need around the world through practical and tangible acts of love and service.
